Adventures in Alishan!

Last month on the 17th Sept, a bunch of us took the train down to Alishan (meaning Ali Mountain) - one of the most popular tourist attractions in Taiwan. It's famous for it's gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, which you watch from various viewing points above the clouds.

We took the early train on Saturday down to Chiayi and then caught the Alishan mountain train (which is one of only 3 mountain railways in the world) for a 3 and a half hour journey through the mountains. Gorgeous! The hotel woke us up on Sunday morning at 4am and we were off on the mountain train again - but this time going further up. The views were gorgeous and for once, it was nice to have to wear long sleeves! The rest of Sunday we just spend wandering through the forest and enjoying the crisp clean air (a rare delicacy!).
